Default Religions that prohibit drinking of alcohol

I thought that many religions disapproved of consuming alcoholic beverages but I think I'm wrong after recently talking with some Lutherans, Methodists, and Catholics.

Are Baptists the only ones that are teetotalers?

Most Pentecostals frown on drinking.

Many Muslims also abstain from alcohol (I think it kind of depends on where they're from in the world though, some won't drink certain types of alcohol, others none at all.)

I'm less positive about this one, but I think Orthodox Jews also stay sober.

I think a lot of religions aren't so much anti-alcohol as anti-drinking until you're intoxicated.

I guess I'm with you 50201. That is why it was such a big shock when I once saw my old minister buying beer. I knew members of the church drank, but I guess I thought the minister was above it. And I'm not even Catholic (since we have all learned earlier on Glurb that Catholics are a bunch of drunks anyway).

Back in that day, wine was probably grape juice.

Since they didn't have cold storage or much in the way of sterilization, grape juice probably fermented pretty quickly.

Catholics and lutherans are known for drinking. People of all christian religions drink. I know of methodists that drink and some baptists drink.

Maybe we should drink a gallon of everclear everyday.
