Windows are closed, You don't want to know why they sweep the streets but I'll tell you anyway, it was to wash the crap and I mean **** and piss away. Not in the new pella just the old dutch towns. I've worked for and tried to get work there, but I'm not dutch and am not welcome and have been fired by contractors from there, I've tried to get involved in the tulip festival and been told only people from pella can be involved. Guess what? I don't go anymore. Its a weird little town, used to be you couldn't mow your grass on weekends, Walmart wasn't welcome if they opened on Sundays. Its changed a bit recently. Its still kinda a closed community if your name isn't Van Something.

They quit talking when the preacher got caught court'n the sisters. I wonder what the husbands of the ladies he was "counseling" had to say and are they divorced now? I've been through Pella a time or two. I think most are named Van Winkle. The Holier than thou crowd always turns me off.

I've heard Pella can be quite cold towards 'outsiders'. I do like that town though. Just would not want to live there. That little ice cream place near Pizza Ranch rules!!! And there are quite a few shops I like. There is a restaurant on the corner, mostly serves sandwiches, that is awesome. Got some GLASS bottles of pop there a few years ago. They were in an old fashioned wooden barrell loaded with ice. mmmmm. I don't buy in the meat shop. Not sure what kind of meat they have in there but we dropped 30 bucks in the pastry shop next door. Most of the pastries never made it back home. :-)
peace out. ironman |

A lot of dutch settled there years ago they're all related.
I went to the tulip festival 25 years ago because a GF wanted to, haven't been back since. just another tourist trap, things were expensive and don't touch a tulip theres a large fine for walking on/or picking one. The meat shop is famous for Pella Bologna mostly. The pastry shop mostly dutch letters shaped like a L, its almond flavored pastry. |
