Brooke Bouma

Brooke Bouma grew up on a farm just outside of Ottumwa and attended Eddyville High School. After graduation, she went on to Central College in Pella where she spent one year studying abroad in London, graduating with a degree in Communication. Brooke landed her first television news job in Ottumwa partly because she happened to be at the right place at the right time. The news director at KTVO wanted someone from the area and was willing to teach her the trade. A year later, she was hired by WIBW in Topeka, Kansas as the morning show anchor and reporter. Then in 2000, Brooke got the job opportunity she always wanted - working as a reporter for WHO-TV in Des Moines. She later became the morning show anchor and stayed with the station until May 2005. Brooke says she is thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved with Iowa Public Television. "I grew up watching Morgan Halgren showcase some of the great places and people of our state. It's a true honor to be a part of Living in Iowa."
Brooke is recently married to a long-time Iowan, and they thoroughly enjoy living here. Her parents and two sisters still live in Iowa as well.
