Default Two arrested following countywide burglary investigation

Following an investigation by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, a Newton pair is facing multiple theft charges for several burglaries in the county.

Law enforcement arrested Charles Loudermilk, 49, after a short vehicle pursuit Monday. Kristen Miller, 34, was also arrested after eluding police in a different vehicle at the same time.

The incident happened in the 5400 block of East Eighth Street North when deputies noticed an active arrest warrant for Loudermilk, as well as additional charges of burglary. When he fled, he drove through a ditch and law enforcement stopped him.

The vehicle Loudermilk was driving was reported stolen Dec. 24, 2017, and deputies also found a firearm inside the vehicle. At the same time, Miller led police on a short chase, which ended in the 6800 block of Cone Street.

During the last few months, numerous burglaries were reported in Jasper County, including vehicles, construction equipment, trailers, tools, horse tack and other items reported stolen. After an investigation, several of those burglaries were linked to Loudermilk and Miller.

A search warrant was issued Feb. 7 at a residence in Reasnor where deputies recovered stolen property from some the reported burglaries.The property recovered was valued at $125,000.

Loudermilk was charged with first-degree theft, a Class C felony, second-degree theft, a Class D felony and possession of a firearm, class D felony.

Miller was charged with second-degree theft, a Class D felony, carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Loudermilk was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail where he is being held without bond. He is also being held on a previous five-year prison sentence after he failed to turn himself in.

Miller was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail and has a $5,000 bond.
