Arrow Asian restaurant recommendations

We're looking to try something new in Des Moines. Any recommendations for Asian restaurant(s) that you really like?

Asia is a big continent and very diverse. Could you narrow down the cuisine you are asking about?

Nope. I want to go to the most recommended Asian restaurant.

Whether if it's Mongolian, Tai, Vietnamese, etc., as long as it's great food we'll go.

We love Great China. It's an award winning restaurant on 86th.

Thai Flavors on E.14th & University (in the strip mall on the northwest side) is the best Thai food in DM.

I agree with Hu Hot. I only get there once a year but LOVE it!

Is this a chain restaurant?

I've never been to Hu Hot, but have heard good things about it. I love all the little Chinese joints, but my personal favorite is P.F. Chang's. It's a chain (at Jordan Creek), but the food is what I call a gourmet-type Chinese. I've been there more times than I can count (at many different locations) and have yet to order a dish that wasn't phenomenal.

This is an old post, but not many answers, so I'm adding my thoughts. A-Dong at around 15th and High is the best Asian in my opinion. The chinese food is okay, but the Vietnamese dishes are great. If you are afraid of Vietnamese food, I recommend number 108. It has lots of thin sliced beef in a citrus based marinate with interesting flavorings. For those who don't want noodles or anything strange to their taste, this is one to try.

A little known Chinese one is Hong Kong in the strip mall at 42nd and University, in Des Moines. VERY inexpensive, made to order items. It is mostly Cantonese style so some people think it is too mild. Great and very cheap buffet. The keep the amount of food on the buffet a bit low so they can keep it fresher.

I also like the Chinese buffet at around 22nd and Ingersoll. Especially like the Mongolian wok there. Not as wide a selection as Hu-Hot, but much cheaper since it is included in the total price.
