Default Kin Folks BBQ

I just got back from Altoona and it looks like my favorite BBQ place has closed.

I loved the Kin Folks BBQ sauces.

Isn't Klaxon's across the street? I always heard that Kin Folks was the better of the two, but I never got a chance to compare them.

Yeah, Claxon's is just north of where Kin Folks was.

I've been to both several times but, when it was my choice, I always voted to eat at Kin Folks.

Their menu wasn't as large but their hot sauce was my favorite!

Jethro's BBQ coming to Altoona was the final nail in Kin Folks coffin I belive. But Yanni's is moving their WDM store to the spot where Kin Folks was so Bread Knots will be closer...YUM!

I tried Jethro's BBQ for the first time a couple of days ago. It reminded me of Bandana's in Ankeny.

I really liked the flavor of the sandwich I ordered but I thought it was kind of pricey for how small the portion was.

Had Kin Folks been around a long time? I had the impression that it had been there for decades because there were a great deal of photographs of celebrity customers and some of them looked quite old (the photos and the celebrities).

Kinfolks had been there for sometime. Unfortunately I never thought they lived up to the quality or quantity of the parent restaurant in Attica.

There's a sign up for the former Kin Folks, "Yannis. Coming Soon."

Looking in through the windows, the restaurant looked furnished and ready to go.
