Businesses I miss from Boone

Businesses that used to be in Boone that I miss:

Pamida
Alco
Spurgeon's
Ben Franklin
Black Knight restaraunt
Country Kitchen
JC Penny's (used to have actual store, then catalog store)
Davidson's
The old Drive-In
Andy's Pet Emporum
Earle May
Boyd's Dairy

I am sure there are more, those are what I can think of right off hand.

I can't say as I really miss any of them except the drive-in. I can still go to Alco whenever I go to my folks and Pamida in Jefferson. Most of them on your list were just to high priced for regular people to frequent - so don't miss them at all.

I miss the Boone Blank store.

Have to revise.. I did love the craft section in Ben Franklin - it so out did anything that walmart offers even now.

What was the name of the sporting goods place that Mr & Mrs Nutt had for years? I really miss Spurgeons and Ben Franklins-And I didn't think their prices were high at all.

Wasn't it All Star Sporting Goods? Spurgeons was a cool store. I loved going in there and looking around. Also miss Boyds Dairy. I was addicted to their extra thick malts and Blue Moon ice cream.

Hamilton Hardware
Osco Drug
Tradehome Shoes
Meyers Clothing
Video Place
Maid Rite
Coney Island
Those are a few more

Spencer203 01-25-2008 12:02 PM

Where was Coney Island at? I don't remember that one.

Buddytoo 01-25-2008 12:02 PM

All Star kinda sounds like it, but to be honest I can't remember for sure.

I am not quite sure if that is what they called it or not-we did! It was south of the railroad tracks on story then east the first block-the people who ran it had an accent-very nice. My uncle use to take us there every Saturday.
